Keoki's Bio :

Born in San Francisco, Keoki spent his youth in Kalihi and graduated from Farrington High School in O'ahu. His most cherished memory was the time he spent making sweet music with Buddy Fo and the late Sonny Kamaka from The group,
"The Invitations".

Inspired by slack key wizard Led Ka'apana, Bruddah Keoki adds Latin elements to his slack key pieces, even playing the traditional quatro guitar, in a slack key tuning song, "Makawao Slack Key" tune, a song for the paniolo. His conga, timbale and percussion skills sparkle on several tunes, keeping the beat fresh and lively, of course, a major influence ,Pancho Sanchez & the late, Tito Puente.

A veteran of Maui's music scene, George "Bruddah Keoki" Ruiz Jr. has opened for international recording artists Earl Klugh and the Rippingtons. His group has performed at the Maui Music Festival in 1995 and 1996.
Also 1997, he performed in London with some wonderful gifted musicians including female vocalist, TAKA BOOM " sister of recording Artist, CHAKA KHAN".
Keoki has left the doors wide open in London, to soon visit and catch up with those gifted musicians he's had a chance to gig and record with during his two months there.
